Lois T. Murray Elementary Middle School serves students with significant cognitive disabilities. There are 45 staff members taking care of 35 students with high support needs that require attention every minute of every day. Principal Lewis secured a grant from the Heart of the Schools Fund to create a space for her staff to recharge. Heart of the Schools director, Kevin Leary, connected her to the Educator Support Collaborative.
Thanks to Designers and Advisory Board members Kelly Ennis (JP2 Architects) and Morgan Singer (Arris Design), what was once a storage area transformed into a wellness lounge. Staff can find privacy and relaxation in this space with specialized furnishings, including a sound reducing couch and bean bag chairs.
Strategic Factory enhanced the community “Cafetorium” to bring school spirit to an otherwise not so pleasant view of the parking lot. Sherwin Williams volunteers brightened both the staff lounge and wellness space with an ocean inspired color scheme to help bring relaxation to the staff. Our partners make all things possible and make a true difference to educators and their students!
